The door speaker unit can be mounted on the outside of the door to the main entrance of the house. The master unit is kept in the house. It has a 'talk' button, a microphone and a speaker. Both these units can communicate with each other by sending radio signals.

Door intercom systems enable communication between two or more rooms, or between one or more rooms and the front door - so they can be used to talk to a caller before deciding whether to let them in. Door entry systems, or door intercom systems, often have multiple handsets or master stations linked to the doorbell unit.
